I love writing and blogging SO MUCH. But when writer’s block hits, I definitely need to dig deep.
Sometimes I’ll stare at my screen like, “what the hell am I going to write about?” To be honest, when I hit the “New Post” button, I had no idea what I was going to write about. And then I realized that I really like to write about little
blogging tips and tricks
.
I know a lot of people who are really good on Instagram…but HATE writing. But when I asked them WHY they hate writing, it’s just because they don’t know WHAT to write. Which I totally understand. Coming up with topics that you think people will want to read IS NOT EASY. You don’t want to think you’re about to put effort into writing, only for people to not respond.
the news
There’s a lot going on. While some topics are definitely heavier than others, I consume a lot of news (sometimes it’s unfortunately). Whether it’s about the
fashion industry evolving during a pandemic
or
why we need to vote
, big news topics definitely have an impact on what kind of things I write on my blog.
my life
Fashion naturally plays a very large part of my life (since it’s my
career
and what this blog is based off of, DUH). But there’s a lot of other things I write about too. For example, I
recently wrote about what I’ve been dealing with personally
. My anxiety has REALLY been getting the best of me lately, and I decided to write about it more on It’s Casual and on Instagram. Not only is it super therapeutic, but also allows me to get tips from others as well as potentially help someone else talk about it.
influencers
I truly believe there’s space for EVERYONE who wants to do this “influencer/blogging” thing. And with that, a lot of the time I get inspiration from someone else I follow or see on Instagram. While I OBVIOUSLY ain’t here for blatant copying (I’ve literally seen people do the same pose, in the same outfit, in the same location), but I really don’t think there’s any harm in getting inspiration from people whose job it is to INFLUENCE or INSPIRE you. Of course, if that’s the case, we gotta give credit where credit is due. If I find a post or an image that I love or that sparks an idea for a post, I’ll use a
tab in my editorial calendar
to add my idea and in the “notes” section, I’ll write where/who I got the inspiration from.
