3 Tips For Staying Grateful

Over the last few weeks, I’ve been taking time out of my day to think about the things I’m thankful for.

And let me tell you, I’ve seen a huge shift in my mindset and overall happiness. Being happy shouldn’t be hard. Especially when you stop to take a moment to think about everything you have. Sure, you may not have it all, but what you do have? That’s special. Staying grateful has kept life into perspective, and also allowed me to remain humble. Today I wanted to share a few ways I’ve learned to remain grateful (in my life, in my jobs, and in my relationships).

Celebrate your success

It’s OK to celebrate your success. You

deserve

to celebrate your successes. The most important thing I remember when I’m celebrating a success or milestone, is ALL of the hard work I put into making this success a reality. When you take a step back to think about the work you’ve put in, it makes you that much more grateful that the success happened.

Write things down

I recently started writing in my

Five Minute Journal

, and let me tell you…this little book is a game changer. Who would have thought that taking just FIVE minutes a day can help get your life in perspective?! Basically, you take a moment every morning to write down things that you’re grateful for in that moment. Then, you write 3 things that would make that day great. Next up, one daily affirmation. And then you move on with your day. At the end of the day, you write down 3 amazing things that happened that day, along with how you could have made today ever better.

Take a mental health break

The

social media comparison game

is at an all time high. I’ve gotten to the point in my life where I’m comfortable admitting when social media is being a pain in my ass…and really bringing me down. So what do I do? Forget about the damn social media. I pick up a book. Or I FaceTime my sister. Watch TV with Matt. And my new favorite thing to do is my skin care routine. Seriously, obsessed. But anyway, doing things for yourself can only benefit your mental health. Taking a breather is OK. When you take a breather, you often see the bright side of things. Personally, when I take a step back, I always remind myself that “Hey, open your eyes, the world ain’t ending.” Another great way to really put things into perspective.
