Want to know what my most used tool is when it comes to running my business?

I can’t stress this enough: An editorial calendar is a MUST if you don’t want to lose your mind/overwhelm yourself. My editorial calendar is THE best way to keep myself on a schedule when it comes to It’s Casual. I’ve had an editorial calendar for almost three years now, and as I’ve grown, I’ve added additional sheets to keep my most important tasks/ideas in one place. I literally have this document up EVERY. SINGLE. SECOND.

I wanted to create a version of it FOR YOU. After I posted about what I do on a



daily, weekly, and monthly basis



, I got some requests to share what this sheet looks like. So I wanted to dedicate an entire post to it since it’s SO important to my business!

editorial calendar

Obviously, the first benefit of having an editorial calendar is to help to stay consistent with your content. The second benefit is that it helps you visualize your content. For a while, I was just writing posts and leaving them in my WordPress purgatory. I wasn’t able to really look at what I was putting out week after week, month after month. Having an editorial calendar allows me to see what I’m planning for the week, month, etc. I can see if I have too many sponsored posts coming up. It also allows me to create some type of routine and structure for posts. My current schedule looks like this:

With Instagram, I’m a little more all over the place. I typically post whatever I want, whenever I want. I still like adding my posts into my calendar so that I can see what my sponsored content to organic content ratio is.

Obviously, working with brands is part of this blog and I’ve made a business out of it.

I am constantly reviewing my partnerships between this document and with my management team. This allows me to truly stay on top of EVERYTHING we’re doing in terms of sponsored content. I look at this sheet a few times a day, making sure I’m checking things off the list, adding dates of approvals, shoots, etc., and it’s a good way to cross reference where we’re at in terms of payments.

Trust me, I’ve been there. I’ve had those days and weeks where you just have NO clue what to post. That’s why I’m so glad I have a tab that’s dedicated to content prompts. When I’m having crazy writer’s block, I refer to this list. I’ll either pull a topic from this list OR it’ll spark something completely new for me to create. It’s nice to just have a running list of things to think about!
